Yes ... the difference?
We used only one tester (and a cheaper version) and a blood test at the gynae's clinic ... as compared to us going through this the first time
So, on the 12/5/2009, we were told that I am about 3 - 5 weeks pregnant. Doc wasn't so sure on the number of weeks and so, he ordered a blood test. During this time, 2nd baby kwee is about 0.4cm big ...
On 16/5/2009, we went back to see the doc ... he said that number 2 is about 4 weeks old and he is now 0.98cm long ... yes, during this time, I am constantly hungry and in a span of 5 days, I have put on 0.5kg ... I hope all goes well ...
We can't decide which gynae to use and I was torn between going to the first one (yes, the one who insisted that I go through the c-section before the edd) or the second one (supposedly more patient/supportive but not as kia see as the first) ... In the end, out of sheer need for convenience and also cost, I opted for the first. The check-up went well and he warned that since number 2 came quite soon after Caleb, chances of me going through another c-section is high... well, I am glad he told me this upfront and I think I know my body better now - unless I build up my stamina, I do not know if I got the stamina to go through a labour ... anyway, that is ten months down the road. If he is 'naughty', I will probably change gynae again ...
Thing(s) I want to change -
So far, things are still pretty alright. I can still taste the food without experiencing any funny after taste as compared to when I was having Caleb. I just started to swim and hopefully, this will be part of my exercise regime throughout this pregnancy ... just get the body ready. This was something that I did not do due to constant fatigue and puking-ness ...
Maybe sign up for massage ... body is not young anymore. Especially my back :( maybe I should ask auntie hawa to give me massage ... :)
Thinking hard if I should get a confinement nanny ... looking at the EDD, it would be around CNY and I think my mum would be busy and my bro may be out-stationed. So there is no one to ferry her to my house each morning, unlike when she did the confinement for me when Caleb was born ...
Maid? Hmmm, the thought is still not appealing ... maybe I will embrace the thought after a ton of unwashed laundry / unironed clothes fell upon me ...
the next visit to the doc is on the 6/6/2009 ....
Here we go again .... nearly 20 months later

Caleb's first real haircut
Finally .... bo-chup parents decided to bring Caleb for his first real hair cut ...
He did not cry but it was difficult to distract him .... the shaver made minimal noise but he will still stare at 'the thing that makes funny sound' ...
The auntie tried to distract him but he always turned his head the moment that she was about to snip his hair ... ha ha ha
take a look at the pictures ... :) I think a few more visits would be required before his hair will look nice ....
Before the cut ...
After ... at grandma's house, playing with humpty dumpety ... somehow, he seems to like the humpty dumpety coin bank ...
Closed up at Crystal Jade ...
Cheeky Caleb @ 9 months
Caleb is nine months old now .... much cuter and more interactive
What do we do when we need to get ready for work and has got no time to entertain him?
Daddy is nicer to him - Daddy will keep him company till Mummy is free to take over ....
When it is Mummy's turn to look after him, Mummy will bring him, chuck him on the carpet in the room's toilet ... *dun worry, the carpet is new ...*
Initially, he was amused ... like ... wow, it feels so different to be sitting on the carpet ... he actually enjoys it ...
This gives Mummy time to wash contact lens, put on foundation in the morning ...
A few more times later, he began to explore ... rubbing his little feet against the carpet to feel the difference in texture ...
look round the environment ...
after the discovery of the carpet, he discovered the door ... he knows the door will swing if he moved it .... he actually laughs when he can move the door ...
after exploring the door, he found that there is this little opening with little holes on it ... so he will play with the carpet, with the door and with the hole ...
So far, he has not attempted to play with the toilet bowl ... I shall not let that happen .... another reason why I let him sit on the rug is that he is still afraid to change from sitting position to crawling position ... seems like he is afraid that he will hit himself ... so ... so far so good ....
if he knows to how change position, then Mummy needs to think of another way to pacify him while we are getting ready to work ...

Random
Caleb is 7+ months now ...
Just some random things about him ...
1. we brought him swimming - twice ... first was on 15/2/09 ... my brother went into the water with him while mummy, granny and grandpa watched on ... at first, he was quite frightened but after a while, he was enjoying himself ... :) the second was just last week ... with daddy ... this time, he knew what to expect and was really enjoying the water ... :)
2. he fell out from his sarong yesterday *ouch! but thankfully, he did not hurt himself ... I think I was more frightened then he is ...
3. Sat on the baby chair at auntie peiwen's wedding @ conrad ... first time he sat on a baby chair and being a new thing, he sat in it for quite a long time ...
4. Knows how to crawl - a bit slow on the floor but on the bed, he can go forward and backward...
5. He knows that we are supporting him when he is seated ... hence he will try to move his butt and body forward in order to shift from one place to another ...
6. He is still on EBM ... yea, I also have no idea when I will stop ...
7. He seems frightened of dogs - our two dogs at home - especially when the two barks non-stop when excited
8. I sing "Our Father" to him when it is bed time ... recently, I have added Edelweiss to the bed-time song ...
9. He likes to sleep in the car ... even though I tried to distract him, he still fell asleep ...
10. He doesn't like to lie in his cot except during bed time ...
Road Trip to Melaka on Christmas n Boxing Day
Caleb was about 5 months old when we first brought him out of tiny Singapore....
My concerns ...
1. Will there be a huge jam?
2. Will Caleb be used to the car ride?
3. How will Caleb sleep at night since we had not really train him to sleep on his own.
4. How do I express milk in the car - since my FIL will be joining us? Is the water from the hotel safe for baby's consumption?
5. With only 1 driver - can we cope?
hmmm ....
1. Will there be a huge jam?
>> There was a slight jam ... but as we are going up in a big group, we sort of cut queue here and there ... so, it was not so bad...
2. Will Caleb be used to the car ride?
>> Caleb was such a sweet darling ... he slept on his way to melaka and he slept on his way back ...
3. How will Caleb sleep at night since we had not really train him to sleep on his own.
>> Kudos to daddy who walked him round the room, rocked him using his arms till he fell asleep...the best part is that after this trip, Caleb has learnt to sleep on his own on most nights by rolling on the bed ...
4. How do I express milk in the car - since my FIL will be joining us? Is the water from the hotel safe for baby's consumption?
>> Make sure I am well covered using the shawl when expressing .... and for water, I brought water from home. Since it is just a one night stay, I brought some water in my Tiger thermo flask ... and thankfully, since Caleb is drinking breastmilk, I do not need to worry about water issue so much ...
5. With only 1 driver - can we cope?
>> We coped! ... ha ha but it was tiring though ...
Would we do it again?
>> Probably yes but wait till Caleb is bigger and maybe when he starts to take food that we adults are taking ...
Daddy and baby catching up on snooze while mummy ate at "The Zen by Secret Receipe" ... the food is yummy ... we had pie in bowl and green apple with sour plum ... shiok!
Making Caleb comfortable is top priority! haha ...
Caleb at Jonker Street ....
feeding medicine ...
caleb hates his medicine ... the moment he felt the syringe near his face, his lips would purse soooo tightly, made crinkly face ...
no choice .... we had to give him the medicine nevertheless.... so daddy got to hold him done ... while mummy gave him the 'shots' ....
and somehow, along the way, he doesn't want to drink his milk .... he has gotten onto the mode that 'i will only drink milk when i am really hungry ...' ... he takes water though ....
and out of desperation, i fed him some semi-solids ... some packets of baby food that our pd gave us ... he likes ... took a bit and drank some milk ....
hmmm, maybe he knew that he has turned 6 month and wants to move on to semi-solid food .... we shall see ....
in the meantime, daddy n mummy are both knocked out ....
Caleb is sick
Caleb is 6 month old today ...
unfortunately, he is down with runny/blocked nose, and cough ... the kind of cough that is likely to attack around nite time ....
on new year's eve, we brought him to Mt A to see doc ....doc prescribed some medicine which makes him puke out ... so one the 2nd day of the new year, we brought him to see our family gp....
got some changes to his medicine but things dun seem to be improving ... we are monitoring and probably bringing him to see pd on monday ....
what strucks me ....
1. must standby a few doctors who i can rely on .... my family gp is good but i am not so sure if he has up-to-date knowledge on baby ... since his kiddos are all quite grown up now ...
2. caleb's pd is at TMC ... so far and lei chey to go there each time ... i must find where the other pds are and their operating hours ... noticed that PDs do not opened on sun .... wth ...
3. children who fall sick .... very tiring on the parents .....
